BENEFITS FROM POULTRY:

Poultry farming has long been the foundation of agricultural practices, providing many benefits
beyond food production alone. Specifically, chickens are an important source of nutrition from
high-quality protein in their meat and eggs. Eating poultry products is related to several health
benefits because they contain essential amino acids as well as vitamins and minerals such as iron,
and zinc that are necessary for a balanced diet and general well-being.
Moreover, apart from dietary benefits, the poultry business is greatly essential in the economy. For
millions worldwide especially in rural areas where job opportunities are scarce; it is their means
of survival. Unlike other forms of livestock raising, poultry farming requires very little capital
investment making it more affordable to peasant farmers. In addition, such an accessibility has
several positive impacts on the local economies through promoting entrepreneurship, lessening
poverty levels and enhancing food security.
One more way to benefit from poultry farming is through environmental sustainability. Compared
to bigger livestock animals like cow and goat, birds have low footprint on carbon emissions. Their
feed conversion ratio is more efficient which means less land, water and feed are needed. Besides
this fact, chicken droppings can be used as organic fertilizers to enrich soil thus supporting
sustainable agriculture.
Moreover, the poultry industry is a hub for innovation and technological advancement. With the rising global demand for poultry products, there has been significant investment in research and development aimed at improving productivity, animal health, and biosecurity measures. Innovations in breeding, feeding, and disease management have not only enhanced the efficiency of poultry production but have also ensured that poultry farming can meet the increasing demand in an ethical and sustainable manner.
Another significant aspect is the social effect of poultry farming. In numerous underdeveloped
regions, it aids in empowering women and marginalized groups by providing them with a means
of income while enhancing their food security. Also, since the production is relatively quick;
farmers are able to see returns on their investments within a short period which helps them to re-
invest hence improving their life standards.
Chickens have advantages on several fronts, including nutrition and economy, environment and
society as a whole. At a time when human beings all over the world are increasing in number,
poultry production is very crucial and indeed a lot is to be desired for its sustainability and cost
effectiveness. For these benefits to be fully realized, it is necessary that we continue supporting
the poultry industry via research studies, investments and formulation of policies that will ensure
sustainability of global food system in terms of equity.
